Lufthansa’s Business Class Lounge

A girl can sure get spoiled with business class lounge access. How did I get upgraded and gain access to this magical land?

Some airlines will offer the option to “bid” on a business class seat.  You make an offer and a day or two before the flight, assuming there is room, they will either accept or reject your offer. It’s always way cheaper than booking business class in the first place. Honestly, what do you have to lose if your bid is rejected? You just sit in economy or premium economy as originally planned.  (We did for our Iceland Air trip).

I bid on both outbound flights. I didn’t get the STL-FRA overnight as it was a completely full flight.  I was upgraded on the FRA-BLR for about 600€ ($670 USD). Again, way cheaper than buying outright.  There are obvious perks on the flight but with it you also get lounge access.

This lounge had restrooms, showers, beds, quiet rooms, and plenty of comfy seating.  Their food and and beverage service was an offering of multiple wines and beers on tap, sodas, juices, teas, and specialty coffees.  There was hot food, cold food, fruit, pastries, cheese (man I love cheese) and a candy bar with multiple candies in jars to choose from.

It’s an impressive lounge. Beats out the American Airlines lounges.

It’s nearly 11:15am and my flight doesn’t depart until 1pm. I’m very tired but looking forward to the next aircraft and the ability to sleep.
