We started off with breakfast and it was amazing to have an omelette and a Sprite.
One thing I’ve noticed about driving here-no road rage. Like at all. Need to get on the highway but missed your ramp? Just hit the brakes and go in reverse and back up. Better yet, TURN THE CAR AROUND INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. There is no anger with the honks. So wild.
We went to an old palace, Hawa Mahal, first before shopping and I watched a puppet show. It was amazing. The guy came over and talked to me, asked me where I was from and I told him. He said Muppets are famous there. Yes! I had to watch his puppet show. I tipped them while Nisha and Sumanth explored the palace some more climbing heights I wasn’t about to do. I did get some neat palace window shots and video looking out onto the street.
New cars get pretty bows on for days. One guy had astroturf on his dash. No pic. Roundabouts are a legit free-for-all. Think they suck in the US? Try no lanes marked and 5 ways.
We hit one store and Nisha got feisty and bargained hard. It was so funny to try to listen to. Sarees were more money at this shop than in Bangalore. Go Nisha! I did score some cool things for family.
I saw a cow with a necklace! We were driving through and couldn’t snap a pic quick enough. I love that a cow had jewelry!!
We went to a street shopping area where I bought jewelry. That was fun. Then we headed to Amber Palace and Amber Fort. I wanted to ride elephants but didn’t see them but did see camels but been there done that before. Amber Palace means palace in the sky in Hindi and boy was it. Our driver was amazing getting us up as far as he could but we had to climb the rest. Of course I got overheated. Sumanth to the rescue with cool water.
We also saw Jal Mahal which is the palace in the water. Finally got pics of street goats. Monkeys were eating bananas on the street but they looked sketchy. I was in the car and intended on keeping a distance.
Off to the airport which is small for an international airport. The flight was uneventful with the exception of watching lightning and storms from eye level. It’s breathtaking and eerie at the same time watching lightning dart around the night sky.
More on coming “home” (for the next few nights) to Bangalore tomorrow. Staying with Nisha and Sumanth and all of their family.
Time for sleep!
