It never fails that I end up in interesting situations while traveling for business. More often than not my flights are delayed. Of course that happened on this particular trip but I want to share the highlights of the trip and not the fact that I didn't land until 1am or had the guy sitting next to me on the plane almost slump over on my shoulder snoring.
If you've never stayed at an Embassy Suites before you should know that I do recommend Hilton properties. The Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport is no exception. I was very impressed not only with the lobby area, cleanliness of the hotel and room, but the overall atmosphere. Honestly, the pair of swans in the water feature in the hotel was probably what would prompt me to give a higher score on this property. They were adorable! They have a very nice indoor pool and hot tub which was nice after a day in the office. The E.S. cooked to order breakfasts are always very good. Overall, and while I was on the company's dime, I'd still say this was a good price and a good property. 8/10.
I also want to give a shoutout to Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano. I had the absolute best meal at this fine dining Italian restaurant. I always order more than I will be able to eat but I like to sample a bit of everything. I started with a Caprese salad, the main was the Pappardelle E Ragu, and finished with creme brûlée with a cup of coffee that was to die for. I did not come close to finishing any one course but it was phenomenal.
It's always an experience to travel by yourself. It's not just having a large hotel bed that you can sprawl out on nor kids waking you up in the middle of the night. I love to dine by myself. It's truly good for the soul to enjoy your own company.
