This is our Dubai Travel Itinerary and Review - The Dubai Mall.
We started off with breakfast at the club lounge. Americano coffee is very...thick. Good but a very dark roast.
The pool is gorgeous. Infinity pool out to the palm/ocean. The lifeguards positioned themselves to be right next to the kids.
The girls and I hung by the pool. It doesn’t take long to burn here. I can feel it already. Baby Shark is a universal song too lol. Many gentleman in thobes; white outfits worn by Gulf men walking around the property.
Ed attempted to go skydiving over the palm. He said there was a prayer room right next to the locker room! But it didn’t work out today due to high winds. Will try again in a few days.
We had afternoon tea in our club lounge. Tea was the obvious selection but many other drinks. Scones, which I figured you’d find here as well as cucumber sandwiches. But they also had exquisite desserts, a nice treat, and then they also had seasoned curly fries and garlicky creamy shrimp. It was not at all what I expected for afternoon tea!
In Arabic countries, they pour tea and coffee half way. If they do, it means they want you to stay for good conversation and hospitality. If it’s full, drink it and GTFO.
We headed to The Dubai Mall. This place is insanely huge. Heck, everything is huge and elegant here. This mall is the largest mall in the world and boasts over 1500 shops. Fashion Avenue has all of the designers. Not really my thing but was neat to window shop. The girls went to a huge bookstore and picked up some Manga. At dinner, noses in books!
Parking garages are cool here. For each lane it displays a number of open spots and the lane number. Above each parking spot is a light. If green, it’s obviously open. Red, someone is there. Makes sense, but it’s tied to the lane available number of spots. Well, I thought it was pretty cool.
Back at hotel before 8pm. The taxis here have a screen that displays their name, picture, rate info...and a nasty message if they’re caught speeding. It’s basically telling them to slow down or they will be fined. And it dings...until you stop speeding. In the tunnel to The Palm Jumeirah, there’s a known speed trap that everyone hits the breaks for, then guns it again.
Annicakes and I wrapped up the night with some room service after a few hours of sleep. Nachos and ice cream on the menu! I really spoiled her on our cruise years ago lol.
