We started our drive at 830am and headed towards the Sahara, making a few stops along the way. We took pictures of a huge canyon and then drove to the bottom of it.
We stopped for a buffet lunch which was kind of expensive but I guess in certain remote areas you can do that. It had a clean bathroom so no complaints really. There hasn’t been a meal I haven’t enjoyed with the exception of the crepes and that’s because I don’t like crepes.
We hopped back in the car and headed towards our destination but made a stop at Hambid’s and mukbar’s village. We walked the market and I bought some spices. Then we went to hambids house and met his wife and son. His son is 17 and we said we’d do an arranged marriage for Annicakes.
Back in the car only a short while longer to our desert camel ride.
And camel ride we did not. At least not Annicakes or I. She got on the camel, freaked out, and got off. To be fair, HER CAMEL freaked the heck out first as soon as he saw Elle Woods that was gonna ride him. He started bleating and making this wretched noise like he was going to lose his dinner right there. I don’t know if he doesn’t like cute blondes or what but he was pissed. So, I let her get off.
I never even got on a camel. I stayed with her instead and we took the car which ended up off-roading a bit to get to our luxury desert camp.
Meanwhile Ed and Lexi had a wonderful sunset camel ride experience.
Lex’s camel took a break mid walk and refused to get up. Video she took is pretty funny as they are nicely trying to convince him to get up.
Annicakes and I got checked in and went to our tent. The tent was gorgeous. Definitely a luxury “glamping” accommodation. Only problem was the bathroom curtain didn’t close all the way and there’s no door. The shower offered little privacy as well.
Anni and I hoofed it up a small dune to watch sunset and snap a few pics.
Then we headed back down to sit at our patio outside of our tent while waiting for the other two.
Another later dinner at 730 (I seriously can’t hang this late) which was ok.
The girls and I spent most of dinner cracking jokes at camel noises (I’ll spare you the 13 year old humor) but Anni decided there should be a game show with the basis of playing a sound clip and you have to guess if it’s the animal or something completely random. “90% of participants got this question wrong…what does a camel sound like?” Ed made us go outside and catch our breath a few times as we were being pretty obnoxious.
We hiked in sand which stinks. I hate it. I hurts me to much on my bad foot. With that said, I personally won’t do the sand boarding tomorrow. Anyway, back to hiking we went to a fire pit where they were playing the drums and singing for us.
1030pm at night. Sunset is at 745, so we have to be up before that to catch it. Signing off for tonight.
