We started, or should I say startled, our day at 5:00am waking up to the fire alarm. We're on the 24th floor. Thankfully no fire and they told us to stay put.
Breakfast included vegemite. It was interesting; tasted like salty vitamins. Everyone tried it. I believe it is an acquired taste. But hey, when in Rome, uhhhh, Australia.
We rented a car and decided to give it a go. Again, they drive on the other side of the road from what we're used to so it was a challenge for Ed. Thankfully he took one for the team and was our driver.
We headed off to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. We spent the day here. We fed kangaroos, cuddled with koalas and saw a ton of animals. I definitely recommend the koala encounter.
The sanctuary was nicely scented like eucalyptus that the koalas would snack on. Very cool experience and definitely would recommend if you're in the area.
We were so beat and stressed from a day of driving on the wrong side of the road that we just ordered pizza to the room. Kids were more than happy with that.
One thing I noticed, there do not seem to be a lot of 'roo attacks. But those things are positively massive: very muscular and would punch you in the face if they wanted to. I won't be telling any bad jokes or insulting any kangaroos.
Is that real snake????
