Alaskan Adventures - A Day In Seattle

Ed and I got up way too early to catch our 7am flight to Seattle on Alaska Airlines. I slept like crap. He didn’t sleep at all. We said our goodbyes to the girls-they’re on their own while we’re gone. In 19 years, this is our first trip together away from them. We have plenty of folks to keep an eye on them-but I do trust them.

I’m excited to bum around Seattle for the day. The Pacific Northwest is home to the most Bigfoot sightings. I’m looking forward to hitting the store that is dedicated to Mr. ‘Squatch. In fact, to pay tribute to The Dude (The Big Lebowski) and Bigfoot, I am wearing my “Bigfoot Lebowski” t-shirt. It says, “I’m the Squatch, man.” You can literally find anything on Amazon, including those things you don’t even know you need.

If you haven’t seen “The Man from Toronto” I highly recommend it. I downloaded it on Netflix so I’d have something to watch on the plane. Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart we’re very good together.

We were very fortunate that our room at The Charter Hotel (Hilton boutique) was ready at 11am so we dropped off the bags and headed down to Pike Place Market. We walked around and dined at The Crab Pot Seattle on Miner's Landing Pier 57. Crab was expensive so we opted for some yummy shrimp tacos, a shrimp pot, clam chowder and of course, sour dough bread.

We souvenir shopped and Jack (my nephew) is the proud owner of a Bigfoot shirt like his Aunt Jen. To be fair, I’d have eagerly bought my girls Bigfoot shirts but they wouldn’t humor me.

Stopped for a pose with a Bigfoot statue and we headed back to the room. Well, not entirely true. “I” went back to the room and took a nap. Ed was dying to his Salt and Straw, a gourmet ice creamery. He headed up by himself (1 mile one way) and you know that ice cream just didn’t seem worth it. Not that I’m trying to “be good”. Naw. I just didn’t want to walk 2 miles after we’d already walked a bunch.

We dined at a Sicilian restaurant called La Fontana Siciliana. Very nice meal. We dined on the patio with fountains and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Walking back to the room, we stopped off at the Jupiter Arcade. I love me some pinball! Someday I’ll have my own game.

We ended the evening at The Seattle Fog Room. It’s the rooftop bar at our hotel. Surrounded by flames! We sat at the fire table, had fancy schmancy cocktails (mine was torched). I had a sip and swear I was already buzzed and could power a car off of the fumes from that drink. Our wonderful server, Ariel, sent it back and had it watered down some. Still couldn’t get it down. They ended up asking me if I wanted something else, and while I argued it wasn’t necessary, Ariel brought me out a third drink. You know what? Still fumes. But I stirred it up a ton, waited for the ice to melt a bit, drank it and promptly held the wall as I left the bar. Wow.

We had this cute couple on a “maybe” date (I couldn’t tell) snap some pics of us and they asked if they were Facebook worthy. #ifeelattacked
